{Saturday Swap} Peppermint Pattie Brownies

Welcome to Saturday Swap!
This is the place to share your favorite recipes and pick up a few new ones.

One of my favorite treats to fill a candy dish with is Peppermint Patties.  Especially in the winter.  So, when I saw this recipe for Peppermint Pattie Brownies, it was a "must~try".

These brownies {as you may guess from the ingredient list} are very decadent.  You'll want to cut them small before serving.  You will also want to keep an eye on them while baking...  Do not overbake these!

Peppermint Pattie Brownies
Adapted from Hershey's
24 small (1-1/2 inch) YORK Peppermint Patties
1-1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
3 cups sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350* (325* for glass baking dish). Remove wrappers from peppermint patties. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, stir together butter, sugar and vanilla.  Add eggs and beat until well blended. Stir in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; blend well. Reserve 2 cups batter; set aside.  Spread remaining batter in prepared pan. Layer peppermint patties (about 1/2 inch apart) in a single layer over batter. Using a long spatula, spread reserved 2 cups batter over patties.

Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Be careful not to overbake!  Cool completely in pan on wire rack; cut into squares.

What have you been cooking and baking this week?  We'd love to hear from you!  Link your favorite recipes below.

I've made this recipe a few times and we LOVE it! It also looks really cool at holidays when the Yorks have different colored filling to match the holiday. (I know they have orange filling at Halloween).

Chocolate and peppermint are one of my favorite flavor combinations! The hardest part will be to not eat the peppermint patties before they make it in the brownies!

Hi Kim! This is the first time I am linking up to your Saturday Swaps. I am also now following your blog and I hope you will visit me over at a moderate life! Martha from seaside simplicity sent me over here! I am linking up vanilla french toast that my daughter made for me this morning and then she and her cousin blogged about it! All the best, Alex@amoderatelife

Just made these last weekend. It was great watching my guests take a bite into what they thought was an ordinary brownie & then tasting the peppermint patty in the middle :) GREAT Brownie!!
